Nothing "confirmed" but Fangraphs has Miami connected/favorite to sign "Cuban Otani" Oscar Colas!!!

He can sign now but likely waits till Jan 2022. Will be 23 and is a 1B/RF/DH/LHP. Start getting to know him

The Brewers announced a new TV deal today with Sinclair(Fox Sports) so that leaves the Marlins as the last team without a local TV deal...hopefully the Marlins announce their deal soon.

Probably because Curtiss and Floro have years of team control. Also, teams like the Rays and Dodgers have 40 man roster issues so they are targeting players that don’t need to be on the 40 man. Hurt and Edwards are both basically lottery tickets. Hopefully it doesn’t come back to haunt the Marlins, but I’m OK trading them for controllable relievers with a good track record. Also, if the Marlins eventually trade them, they’ll likely get similar value back.

Because we have a 40 man roster crunch with prospects the next 2 years. You're gonna see a ton more of these type of trades. We're gonna evaluate the guys we have and deal the ones that don't have a spot long term.

we're gonna clear 2 spots today off the 40 man alone because curtiss and floro need spots. Mish says they will be injury guys so most likely pitchers going on the 60 day DL. id think maybe a made up injury for a rule 5 guy and then an OF like Harold or Sierra gets dealt for a lower level prospect.

I feel like they're going for quantity instead of quality in the bullpen. And seeing what sticks.

Seriously they have Bass, Bleier, Brigham, Campbell, Castano, Cimber, Curtiss, Detwiler, Floro, Garcia, Guzman, Holloway, Hoyt, Neidert, and Pop. 15 potential guys in the pen. All going to be on the 40-man, this doesn't include NRIs, and we always have 1 or 2 of those make the team. How many guys are we planning on having in the pen? Spend $5 or $6 million on one guy you know will be good and maybe you don't have to carry 14-15 strictly bullpen arms on the 40-Man.
