    Ya Jeff gave him like 5 million a year and paid like $10 of it. Denbo has been the GM pretty much for 2 years so this wasnt a surprise. Only surprise is he didnt get a new job in the system(probably will eventually cause Jeter loves him)

    Question now is with Denbo getting promoted-who becomes #2-DJ or Greenlee?

      Robert Murray of the Athletic mentioned Eppler as a possibility given the Yankees connection. I’d be surprised if they didn’t promote in-house though. Greenlee could be ready for the job.

        Jeter spoke to the media and announced Greenlee was promoted to Assistant GM and they will search for a new president of baseball ops/GM. It would be weird make a new guy keep the current assistants so that would signal either Denbo or Svihlik getting promoted. Or possibly someone with Yankees ties like Eppler. Another option reported by Jon Morosi is yankees VP of baseball ops Tim Naehring. That would make a lot of sense given that they didn’t just promote someone today.

          I truly believe Mike Hill's been nothing more than a media relations guy since Jeter and Co. took over.

            It’s sort of amazing that for someone that has been around as long as Hill was, nobody can really tell what moves he’s actually been responsible for.

              A couple of tidbits from Mish:

              @CraigMish
              I don’t believe Gary Denbo will be Marlins President of Baseball Operations. He may have the strongest voice in the organization, but I see him staying in his role. He loves the development aspect. I personally don’t see it.

              @CraigMish
              Marlins have yet to conduct interviews for Team President, but I believe Jim Hendry is a key name to watch. A great communicator & collaborator. Was with Florida Marlins before taking Cubs GM role. Now w NYY as special assistant to GM.

                I should have noted before-Gary Denbo will likely get promoted but no real "title" He is pretty much gonna be doing the same exact thing as he has been doing.

                They liked Jim Hendry when first bought the team but he wanted to stay in NY. ANother guy they liked alot was Gordon Blakeley however he got suspended in 2017 and think MLB has blacklisted him, Whomever they get will likely be just like Mike Hill-no real decisions just some phone answering/run ideas up to Jeter

                Like Mish said Denbo LOVES what he does and doesnt want to sit in an office all day

                Our FO

                Hendry/Blakeley/Eppler(President/GM in title ONLY)
                Denbo(Real GM but whatever title)
                Greenlee(Assistant GM/Analytics-Spin Rate)
                DJ(Scouting)

                  He wasnt. Answered the phones/Went to meetings and stuff.

                  Mike Hill wanted Dakota Hudson while rest wanted Sandy
                  Mike Hill wanted different prospect while rest wanted Will Stewart

                  They took his opinions(cause Jeter loved his scouting IQ) but he had NO say

                  Gonna be same with Hendry or whomever they hire-they would pick the brain but Denbo/Greenlee/DJ have the say.

                    I would be cool with Hendry or Eppler as President. Both actually know what they are doing in baseball world( I wouldnt let neither near trades or FA tho HAHA)

                    Smart play would be hire Hendry as President and either Eppler or Blakeley as VP. Eppler and Blakeley actually have tons of contacts in scouting world/IFA and have a pretty solid team in that regard

                      The longer this goes without naming a GM, the more it seems like the hire will come from outside the organization.

                      @CraigMish
                      Another name to consider for Marlins Baseball head of operations (unclear on title yet) is NY Yankees VP Tim Naehring. A very trusted advisor to Brian Cashman, he could also be a consideration for the Cincinnati Reds open spot.

                        For the catcher position. Yankees might be out on Gary Sanchez. If JT is too expensive I actually wouldn’t mind going after him to compete with Alfaro. He can also dh some if he gets his bat together.

                          Just listened to the latest podcast from Craig Mish. He had some interesting info. On Hill, he said he believes that the role was probably more of a factor than the pay, although Hill probably wasn't happy with the offer (nobody likes a pay cut).

                          On the roster next year, he believes that Cooper will be the opening day 1st baseman and Lewin will start the year in AAA. He doesn't know what they will do with Aguilar if there is no DH, but believes that they will tender him a contract. He could be moved to an AL team if the DH goes away. Also, he said that the area that they will most likely look to upgrade in the offseason is the middle infield...either at the MLB level or prospects nearly ready in the minors. He says they will be looking to take another jump next year and doesn't think they are just going to count on Jazz or Isan going into the year. So that will be interesting to monitor. He also mentioned catcher, but said he could see them giving Alfaro another chance. His season really was derailed early, so who knows. I personally would be looking to upgrade there.

                          Another thing he mentioned is that the minor leagues will likely be geographically re-aligned for next year for all of baseball, with our AAA affiliate possibly being Jacksonville, AA somewhere else in Florida, and Jupiter remaining our High A team.

                            They would love for something like that with minors but realistic might be

                            All teams in Charlotte and lower
                            AAA-Charlotte
                            AA-Jax
                            A-Jupiter
                            No clue what they call it but be like a SSA or Rookie Ball
                            Rookie-GCL/DSL

                              One other interesting thing Mish said was that they haven't yet decided on the Kintzler option. Seems like a no brainer to me that they would pick that up given our current lack of late inning options. Perhaps Yimi Garcia could close next year, but I'd still keep Kintzler for either the 8th or 9th. IMO, bullpen locks for next year would be Bleier, Hoyt, Kintzler, and Garcia...and then figure out the rest.

                                jeffrey loria is such a douchebag for giving mike hill 3 million per year the minute before he left the franchise. and hill wasnt the only one.
