Honestly, I say reinvesting the money is the key to this trade. They definitely could have gotten more here if they had picked up some of the contract.
What Hanley does in LA is irrelevant, although certainly won't be treated that way, because he clearly wore out his welcome here (assuming the Ozzie wanting him gone thing is true).

hanley has volunteered to play either position, but he's likely to play ss until dee gordon returns, then switch to 3b.
And what are we going to spend the money in? A center fielder?

Scouting report on McGough:
Listed at 6-foot-1 and 185 lbs., the name of McGough’s game is power. His fastball regularly sits 92-94 and he’s flashed a few 97′s with the Ducks. A sharp slider in the low-to-mid 80′s is his top secondary offering and a legitimate swing-and-miss pitch. McGough has also dabbled with a curveball and changeup this spring at Oregon’s behest. McGough is a good athlete with a loose arm, though he’s still working to find consistency with his delivery and overall command. Here’s some video.LHP Chad James-Jupiter Hammerheads-

2. Nathan Eovaldi, RHP
DOB: 2/13/90
Height/Weight: 6'3/195
Bats/Throws: R/R
Drafted/Signed: Eleventh round, 2008, Alvin HS (TX)
2011 Stats: 2.62 ERA (103.0-76-46-99) at AA (20 G), 3.63 ERA (34.2-28-20-23) at MLB (10 G)
Tools Profile: Power arm but limited arsenal.
Year in Review: He took advantage of weaknesses at the upper levels by pitching well at Double-A and ending the year in the big leagues.
The Good: Eovaldi's calling card is a 92-96 mph fastball that touched 98-99 when he pitched out of the bullpen. His upper-80s slider can be a wipeout offering at times, and he has some feel for a changeup.
The Bad: There is some effort to Eovaldi's delivery, and he does himself no favors by falling behind in the count and racking up high pitch counts. His changeup still needs improvement. While he has plenty of velocity, he loses movement on the pitch the harder he throws it.
Ephemera: Double-A batters hit .308 in 65 at-bats against Eovaldi with runners in scoring position and two outs but just .181 in all other situations.
Perfect World Projection: Number-three starter or late-inning reliever.
Fantasy Impact: There is risk without knowing his role.
Path to the Big Leagues: The acquisitions of Chris Capuano and Aaron Harang could leave Eovaldi as the odd man out in the 2012 Dodgers rotation. He could end up in the bullpen or starting at Triple-A Albuquerque.
ETA: 2012
--------------------
I'll say this, between Turner, Eovaldi, Hand, Fernandez, Conley, Lowell, and James, there's some pretty cool pitching depth in this organization.
We're still barebones in terms of positional prospects, but you'd definitely rather that be the case than the other way around. Free agency is very unforgiving to those who need to acquire pitching.poop

Eovaldi's walk rate has improved this season, but he's given up more hits and struck out less, so that would probably indicate he's trying too hard to locate at the expense of his stuff.
I think, worst case, we got an 8th or 9th inning guy.
If he touches 97 starting, gotta wonder what he'd do in 1 inning appearances.

The best thing about all this is that just about every Marlins beat writer is asleep right now, so nobody is reporting this other than the Fox Sports and yahoo writers who never sleep.
