#Marlins unloaded more than $31.5 million by reported trade of @HanleyRamirez to #Dodgers. LA Times says, Dodgers paying full salary.

So, Greg Dobbs is our third baseman?
Even if you're low on Dominguez, this definitely puts a big poop on the Lee trade.

      • I really don't see how getting a top 100 prospect is a straight salary dump.

This isn't Hanley from 3 years ago.

I think this happens every time. Fans get these insane unreal expectations of what they're gonna get in a trade and then the actual value is revealed and they're disappointed.

I'm not saying this is a great trade. But acting like we totally shit the bed is silly.

        • He's two years removed from batting .300 and still being a good player.

I knew his value was lower, but I thought if the market showed it to be this low the Marlins would eventually back out. They really, really wanted to get rid of that contract.

          • So Lee is going to be the next one traded for sure, right?

And I just thought that despite his struggles they could have gotten more than a number 3/4 starter and a maybe 6th inning guy for a former batting champ and All-Star. I usually don't get upset or mad about trades but this one is leaving me kinda dazed.

            • I would like to know what was Oakland's offer. They seemed prepared to give up a better package.

It's funny, because the last trade many Marlins freaked out about was trading Uggla for Infante and Dunn, and we ended up winning that trade. And before that it was Willingham and Olsen for Bonifacio, PJ Dean, and I can't remember who else. Considering Willingham isn't with the Nationals anymore and Bonifacio is a starter, we ended up winning that trade.

I'm still upset with this trade, but I'm still willing to wait and see.

                • Dim, Smolinksi was the final piece in the Willingham trade.

Hanley will have to switch numbers. Suck it Hanley.

Well, Donnie Murphy better continue to hit. It'll be him or Coghlan I'd assume.

                  • Hanley is a 2.7 WAR player since the start of 2011. That's 113th among non-pitchers with 750+ PA over that time.

                    • So you're saying other GM's and even Beinfest just threw out the fact that Hanley was one of the top 10 best hitters in baseball from 2007-2009, and in 06 and 10 was a pretty damn legit all star player?

                      • What happened to the rumor about Zach Lee being the center piece for the trade?

                        • Random thought, I wonder if Giancarlo will switch to 2. I recall him saying he wanted to wear number 2.

                            Probably.

2009 is a long time ago.

                            • You gotta think JJ or Ricky is next. They will have six starters that could start next year in LeBlanc, Hand, Eovaldi, Turner, Sanabia and Koehler.

                              • I mean, if we had traded Yelich or Fernandez for a guy who was good 2 years ago and was owed $31 mil over the next 2 years, this place would melt the fuck down. Party and Swift would buy a Fire Beinfest banner and hire a plane to fly it over the stadium, etc.
