      • Curious to see what Hanley has to say about his time with the club. I knew this was very likely to happen, but it still feels surreal. Really hope JJ stays now.

          • They have no reason to spend money next year though guys, or am I wrong ? Attendance will be attendance no matter what they do, so why not do what they do best, and be cheap ? Just asking

my wife's reaction was "wait, they can trade players during the season?"

so, I think she wins this round

If they can win for cheap, sure. They have too many missing pieces though.

You're right, Melky Cabrera isn't going to bring fans out, the only thing that will bring them out is a winning ballclub in competition for the playoffs. If they could do it 2006 style super cheap I'm sure they would, but there are too many issues to be addressed.

                • I promise this is a serious question, you all really believe they are going to spend this saved money next season ? I think this is dumping, not restructuring but I am also fine with the moves.

                    • I don't think they have a choice.

Honestly, if they go back to their cheap bullshit ways, I think MLB is going to force Loria to sell. Quietly.

                      • Maybe Mark Cuban can buy it

                        • If they go to their cheap bullshitting ways, I'm out as a fan. The reason I stuck it out through the last few years of cheap bullshit was because the stadium was coming.

If they don't make any more moves, this team plays over .500 ball the rest of the way.

I love making that statement because there's no way they don't make any more moves, so I can't be proven wrong.

                            • Is it safe to say Heath Bell blew this entire thing from the beginning. Guy is single handily responsible for this trainwreck that led to all of this.

                              • No, I don't think that's accurate.

If anything, if he had been what he was supposed to be, we'd be hovering around .500 and would probably stick with this eminently unlikable bunch.

Heath Bell saved them from themselves.
