Texas said no to Olt when Angels asked.

Greinke is a two month rental. JJ's under contract for all of next year, and doesn't have anxiety issues (although injury problems negate that).

I think Texas would be willing to deal Olt in a JJ swap. But we'd need to get at least one of Perez/Martin along with Olt to make the deal, along with other prospects.

This Greinke situation could've been disastrous for the Marlins, now it's becoming best case scenario. A win win.

If we trade JJ's, it's going to be because we got an offer we couldn't refuse.

If we don't get the offer we want, he stays.

This just leaves Texas with fewer options, and JJ is the best pitcher on the market.

With Zack Greinke off the board, the two best pitchers left who are rumored to be available are James Shields of Tampa Bay and Miami’s Josh Johnson.

Are the Rangers turning their attention to those two?

The Rangers could stay with the rotation they have, knowing that Neftali Feliz could be back within two weeks or they could move Alexi Ogando from the bullpen. Scott Feldman is riding a four-game winning streak.

The Rangers may try to upgrade in other areas.

Or they could see if the price goes down on Shields or Johnson.

But if the rumors are true that the Marlins want a high return on Johnson, they aren’t getting what the Rangers refused to give the Brewers.

Sources: #Brewers did not insist upon Profar or Olt from #Rangers; they wanted Perez. Rangers felt total package was too much and passed.

Don't see why the Rangers wouldn't move Olt. He is blocked anyways and JJ is a great fit for them. I have a feeling we are asking for Profar +, want to see if Rangers will budge, if not, you "settle" for Olt.

I think that if the Rangers do not get JJ, the Bluejays will. I do not see the Bluejays holding out for us to lower the price. They'll pay what we want.

I wonder if the Jays would let us choose between D'arnaud and Lawrie + pitching Spects.

D'arnaud is a tough case because I think he's out for the season.
