  • Rain in the Ballpark

    Oh noes!!!

MIAMI (CBSMiami) The whole idea of a domed baseball stadium was to keep the heat and the rain outside, and the fans cool and dry inside. If that’s the case, it seems the Marlins have something to work on.

Mother Nature and Marlins Park were locked in battle Monday night, and it looks like Mother Nature won. A television station videographer at the park to watch a game found rainfall, not outside where a storm was pounding, but inside, where the fans were supposed to be dry.

It was hard to see in the lights, where it just looked hazy, but clear to spot in the seats where the raindrops were falling on everybody’s head.

The videographer did what you’d expect, and grabbed his trusty smart phone to document the the “oops!” moment.

The National Weather service issued am Urban Flood advisory because of the heavy rain, and flooding was reported in a number of areas Monday evening, while the Dome was raining.

The thunderstorms were heavy enough to delay fights traveling through Miami International airport.
there's a video on the website

Samson pointed this out like 10 games into the season on the LeBatard Show. That there would be areas where this could happen and the only way they'd know where it would be needed to be fixed is when it rained like that. I don't know if they can remedy that in the middle of the season though, he didn't specify that.

They can because other leaks have been fixed. All of the leaks I've seen were around where the panels meet.

Yeah they should be able to fix it. I remember a few years ago something like this (but worse) happening at Miller Park while the Marlins were in Milwaukee......though unfortunate for the people in that section, it's nothing to panic over. As party said it looked to be right under where the upper and lower sections meet so I'm sure some additional rubber seals (or whatever they're using between the panels) will solve the problem.

Not sure how Mother Nature won, considering the game was played
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.
