  • Marlins Acquire Carlos Lee for Matt Dominguez, Rob Rasmussen

    @Buster_ESPN
    Source: The Marlins are deep into talks with the Astros for Carlos Lee; he has indicated a willingness to play for Miami.
    Why do the Marlins want Carlos Lee? Consider this: Miami 1Bmen have lowest OPS among 30 teams by huge margin. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/...OPS/order/true
    Am told that the Lee deal is not completely done, but there has been a whole lot of progress. As much as HOU wants to move Lee,seems likely.

          I don't know who's idea this was, but whoever it was should be fired.
          Bad contract aside, Carlos Lee isn't even a good player anymore. Retarded.

            Regardless of contention, I like it. Dominguez isn't in the organizations plans for moving forward, and I'm surprised they didn't have to give up a greater arm (like Hand or Sanabia).

                  I would love to hear how this makes any sort of sense, really.

                  Even if you still believe the team can contend this year, we're probably (actually, almost certainly) better off moving Logan Morrison to 1B and putting Ruggiano in LF once Bonifacio comes back.

                  We just gave up assets for nothing. Carlos Lee (who according to Rich Waltz just now is an addition of power) hasn't even hit a HR on the road this year. Exciting.

                    Carlos Lee is pretty mediocre nowadays, but what he's done in 29 games this season away from home is silly to me.

                    It's a stupid trade, but it's also unquestionably an upgrade.

                      I don't think it is.

                          You're being dumb then. Of fucking course it is.

                          Whether it is the right move long term is a different question. But the team is better right now.

                              Erick, it's definitely an upgrade. Gaby Sanchez is probably the worst every day player in baseball, so in that sense, just about anyone is an upgrade. Whether it makes a difference, I don't know, I don't think it will.
