Right, but if you're Mike Miller and you take 10 threes and miss them all because you're really unlucky, you don't stop taking threes after that.

Because they'd be upgrades (that we don't have in our organization) for players who suck a lot more. Gaby Sanchez has a 32 OPS+. 3 m-f'ing 2. John Buck has a 80 OPS+ in his 2 years with us. Since we gave him an extension, Nolasco has an 86 ERA+.

Those guys suck, hard. They need to be upgraded and we don't have anyone in AA or AAA that can do it.

        He could pass to Lebron.

        I don't think that's a really good analogy, though.

Sure it is. Just because you were unlucky once doesn't mean you'll be unlucky again.
          --------------------
We don't have Lebron to pass to. We have Austin Daye. Take those shots Mike Miller.

            Who would replace Sanchez?

Also, didn't you say we really can't move Buck or Nolasco? I don't think we're going to have anyone replace them next season considering, like you said, they would be hard to trade. We could trade Sanchez for a CF and another pitcher but there is a chance they don't provide big enough improvement for the team to warrant trading away Sanchez.

But are the Marlins Mike Miller?

Plus, I would say shooting a basketball requires more skill than luck where as hoping two prospects pan out is more luck than skill. You could minimize the risk by doing your due diligence but you're still relying on two young players with no history at the Major League level, possibly.

I can't tell if you're doing a thing or if you're really this dumb.

Here are our top AAA players: Chris Coghlan, Kevin Mattison, Bryan Petersen, Donnie Murphy, Matt Dominguez, Wade LeBlanc, Brad Hand, Chris Hatcher. Here are our top AA players: Kyle Skipworth, Jake Smolinski, Graham Taylor, Bryan Evans. World beaters for sure.

The only way to make a significant move toward improving our upper levels is by cherry picking from another team's system. The only way to cherry pick a team's system is to make a trade. We've already outlined why Anibal is the easiest player to trade. Please get this.

I'm more worried about the Marlins than our minor league system.

You said if we trade Anibal Sanchez for prospects, they would join the team in 2013. One would hold the seat for Yelich and another would hang out in the bottom of the rotation. So, I'm not understanding why you're bringing up our minor league system.

You realize all the Marlins on the current team, except for Jose Reyes, Hanley Ramirez, Carlos Zambrano and Heath Bell spent some degree of time in our minor league system, right?

It's the same thing. Some people are better at it than others, but statistical outliers at either extreme are still possible. Don't focus on the outliers, focus on the body of work.

The argument is that one option (the status quo) is definitely not the answer, so you take the risk and hope that you find the answer elsewhere.

I would argue that this team is not playing anywhere close to it's talent level, so I would not blow it up yet.

But my thoughts might be different if they cannot turn it around by the deadline.

                        Yes.

But in one of your previous posts you suggested the prospects will be on the team next season. You said one will hold the seat for Yelich and another will hang out in the back of the rotation.

That was for illustrative purposes of your "Miguel Cabrera worst case scenario".

How do you not get this? You're trolling. You have to be.

That's true. The Marlins body of work is pretty good when it comes to trading for prospects but I don't think they're anything exceptional, hence asking are they Mike Miller. Admittedly, I don't know as I am too tired to look all of them up, lol.

Yea. I have nothing better to do. So, I decided to bait you into a debate and troll.

                                Mission accomplished.
