How was JJ in ST? I didn't follow ST at all.
I only saw him in person once (early spring start). His velocity was there, but bobs said I can't trust stadium guns (WHO CAN I TRUST).

I'm pretty sure he hit 100 on the stadium gun in Pittsburgh once. According to PitchFX, he's never topped 98. Trust whatever you want, but stadium guns are notoriously untrustworthy.

Or, ya know, that it's pretty easy to spot an anomaly when it happens. Or that the pictured flawed gun doesn't disqualify every single stadium gun in the country. Or that, you know, maybe someone can actually dial it up pretty hard every now and then.

Remember in Pittsburgh ('01, '02?) AJ hit 102 on the gun and the stadium shut it off thinking it was a mistake only for him to then hit 102 on the next pitch on the telecast.

                  It's certainly possible.

However stadium radar guns aren't always just juiced. I've seen instances where the stadium radar gun is a tick or two below what pitchFX finds. In my opinion, unless given another source to back them up, I find them to be generally unreliable on the whole.

Do you really think I think one picture is the extent of my point? Come on.

It's easy to spot an anomaly. It is not easy to spot when a gun is one or two MPH off. That is an imperceptible difference to the untrained eye. If not given any source to back it up, I find them extremely unreliable.

But who backs up the back up?

It's silly that pitch FX is awesome and infallible.

I have expressed why I think the stadium gun numbers are unreliable.

What is your argument for why PitchFX is?

Because it's one source who posts numbers that, as you have stated yourself, can be unreliable. That he adds a tenth of a velocity does nothing for me, and I question why someone who finds the process unreliable because of "back up" is suddenly ok simply because of decimal points.

I see nothing "wrong" with a stadium gun as a source. I see something wrong with someone saying the stadium gun is "wrong" but Pitch FX is OK.

So my problem isn't with pitch FX, it's with your logic.

He thinks Samson really butchered the radar guns at the new stadium. It's a complete joke. Does this organization know anything ?

I wish he'd start bitching about the board the way he does the team. That'd take it to another level of enjoyment for me.
