    Getting a wildcard isn't playoffs.

With JJ's injury history, I don't think we are a playoff team yet. But we're much improved and will be in the hunt into mid-September at least.

I'd feel much more confident if we added another starter without sacrificing a ton of majors level talent.
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

That's why I only put down ~180 innings for him. Not a completely healthy year, but he was good for at least that the two years before last, and the problems last year weren't significant issues.

I agree with your last sentence, though.

I don't know, shoulder injuries worry me. It also worries me tremendously that what was allegedly a day to day injury caused him to miss 3/4 of the season. That's not something a playoff team can afford to have with their ace, especially in a park that will (more than likely) severely depress offensive output.

If we had gotten CJ, I would say yes. Now I would say it depends on JJ's health.

With how desperate we seemed to be to sign CJ at all costs, I would say we're going to get another one way or another before this offseason is over though.

                  I agree with this.

I also love that we got Buehrle so now (theoretically) we don't need to worry about that next starter's handedness.

JJ-Buerhle-EJax-Anibal-Nolasco/Inhouse5 sounds pretty good to me

What do you think it takes to get EJax?

I will hate signing him if we're calling him EJax.

I think people are overreacting about Nolasco this offseason. I think he's a pretty good #4.

Also, I see Edwin Jackson getting 10 (maybe a bit more) million per for the next four years.

Nolasco's a great #4, problem is, we don't have a great #3. (Although if you tell me contract year brings it out of Anibal, I think I can get on board with that).

Ideally, with such a huge question mark with JJ as the #1, you'd like to make Nolasco the #5.

I think Anibal is a really solid #3, at this point.

This thread is under the assumption that JJ gives us 180 innings (which is something he did the two years before last). If JJ gets hurt again and only gives us 60 innings or whatever, we're screwed regardless of what the rest of our rotation looks like.
