I didn't take it seriously because people talk a lot of shit, but if it's the same rumor I heard...the three players are Morrison, Nolasco, and Coghlan. I think it's bullshit because I don't see why the A's would take on Nolasco's salary.

LoMo is definitely the type of player I would think the A's love though. Possible there would be other elements to the deal as well, so who knows.

Exactly, they have no reason to take on Nolasco's salary.

If I'm Billy Beane, I ask the Marlins for Morrison, nothing less.

I'd be fine with giving up Lomo and volstad

Nobody wants Volstad. Nobody. Even as a throw-in.

But Jay would be fine with giving him up

I think teams would want Volstad as a throw in

Volstad is great for your team when your out of the race late in the yr and you aren't playing the Phillies.

I'd have a hard time taking Volstad as a throw in going into his first year of arbitration.
                      --------------------
I think you want Volstad if you're convinced his stuff plays better in your home park, which for Oakland I guess is conceivable.

it's not like it's his third year of arbitration

I'm sure plenty of pitching coaches think they can "fix" him

I think a lot of bottom third teams in the league would consider a $2.5 gamble on Volstad for one year, knowing the compensation to the Marlins is not much at all. Nationals did with Scott Olsen. Classic "change of scenario low risk high reward" scenario. Not sure if Oakland considers themselves bottom 3rd in the league, and of course they are one of the smaller markets, but I think there is some limited market for him somewhere.

Well Oakland plays in a massive stadium so maybe Volstad wouldn't 76495459694585695856846 home runs there.

                              We're missing a verb here.

Yeah, he doesn't have much value, but teams would absolutely take him.
