It will rival that of the day we signed Pudge out of nowhere, as well as Delgado.

Well, two points do a make a line. So I guess that is enough to say that the line will continue on in perpetuity.

Also, I'm not sure they sold low on Uggla. I think he didn't have much value.

          • Random thought, but if we don't get CJ or Buehrle, I'd be OK with signing Maholm. I believe I've mentioned this before.

            • And Uggla got himself shipped out.... wasn't like Loria went after him first

So I guess it isn't random....

              • An infield with Gaby-Infante-Reyes-Hanley could potentially be very good for a groundball pitcher like Maholm. I don't love him, but he's alright.

                • Random, Ramp, because we were strictly talking about Buehrle.

                  • Buehrle isn't leaving Chicagofell.

                    • I'm getting annoyed by the people that just believe that the Marlins are putting their name out just to give the "Hey we tried" excuse. I think they are well aware that won't work this season and something's going to happen.

                      • In the long run this will work in the Marlins favor. When everyone is shocked that they landed one of these big names it will translate to more commotion.

In all fairness, I wouldn't say something is "going to happen". We're not the only people going after these big name players and it may not possible to get guys even if we do try. St. Louis will probably throw the safe at Pujols now after the World Series, Fielder is likely going to command more money than we can give unless we increase payroll to well over $100 million (which isn't too likely) and the Yankees are going to go after pitching and we all know that they can outbid us 6 ways from Sunday. Reyes may be the best fit for us but there's no guarantee he comes he, either. You can't just say we'll get these guys because we need them and are going to spend more money this season than the last few. We still have to be smart about the deals we offer. We don't want to do what the Nats did with Jayson Werth last year just to say we signed someone.

                          • Mibs, "something" will happen. Whether its what we (you) want remains to be seen.

                            • I just have a feeling this "something" is not going to be as big as everyone in fantasizing about.
