  • Didn't he have a real good season for Arizona? He'll probably cost too much.

    • Our rotation isnt any better than last year's. We need to get rid of Volstad somehow. ONE MORE YEAR JAVY VASQUEZ!

        2011
        Saunders 4.78/4.38/5.73
        Volstad 4.32/3.64/4.94

        2010
        Saunders 4.57/4.50/4.91
        Volstad 4.34/4.43/4.64

        2009
        Saunders 4.60/4.74/5.00
        Volstad 5.29/4.29/5.47

        Career
        Saunders 4.65/4.52/4.90
        Volstad 4.52/4.19/4.85

Big pass on Saunders. He just got lucky as shit last year. Volstad's a better pitcher than him.
        --------------------
Volstad's not nearly as bad as we act like he is. If Mibs wasn't around, this wouldn't be much of an issue, but she ruined him for us.

Chris Volstad was the unluckiest 120-180 inning pitcher in baseball: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/ind...time-starters/

        • Volstad was also 24 for all of last season. It isn't out of the realm of possibility he could get better. He's younger than Gio which I didn't realize. Unless they go big on Edwin or Oswalt, or trade for something big like Gio, I don't mind him for the 5.

          • I got on board with this a week or two ago

Volstad may have a stupid face but he will be better next year
            --------------------
If we can get Todd to hate him (which I think he already does), the Todd Effect will counteract the Mibs Effect
            --------------------
Todd, will you say that there is 0% chance that Volstad is better in 2012 than 2011?

            • If that's the case, then all we have left to acquire is Prince Fielder.

              • I dont hate Volstad. I had high hopes after his first half year. I just dont think he is very good. And he hasnt shown much to point towards much if any improvement. He doesnt have overpowering stuff and gives up way too many fly balls, despite having a ground ball pitcher's repertoire.

                • I think it really boils down to whether or not Todd has given the guy a tow or not.

                  • I hate no one. I heart every player on the team. If Vosltad wins the 5th starter spot, I hope he does well. Theres just no reason to expect it.

I wonder if they've heard of Kyle Skipworth.

                        • Phillies signed Dontrelle Willis. All hope is gone for us in the east.
This is a Dolphins town, though.

                          • Marlins signed Nick Green to MiLB deal.

Certainly looks like they intend to skimp on the bench.

Two guys that could be interesting come January - though they likely won't take a minor league deal - Posada and Derrek Lee. There's your bench power and Sunday starter.
