I think Mujica, Dunn, Webb, Choate, Cishek are guarantees to come back, and I think Ceda's probably got a very good shot at breaking camp with the team, as he's got a 2.40 ERA since his last call up.

Maybe they go out and get one more, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't.

No way Beltran gets a 4-year deal.

Not sure how you can say that so emphatically. He had a terrific season, his agent is Scott Boras, and the Giants, Angels, and possibly even the Phillies might be in on him. I don't see any way he doesn't get at least 3 years and I'd bet on 4.

Berkman had an amazing year and only resigned for 1 year.

Yeah, I don't see how either gets more than a 2+1 contract given their age and injury history.

Lance Berkman was also very picky about the places he wanted to play (if you remember it took coercing just to get him to go to the Yankees), resigned in season and isn't a Boras client

Need a closer? Papelbon will be on the market.

I would shut down the site if we signed him.

Yea, it's going to be Ceda's job to lose, and the 7th spot will go to West (out of options) or Sanabia as a "long man." That's a pretty good pen, especially with Marinez a few walks away from becoming real special, and a few other good arms like Jennings around. They don't need to spend anything on the bullpen, besides Mujica's arbitration.

I can't see any scenario where 34/35 year old position players who will command $10+ annually with injury histories getting 4 year contracts. I'd bet 2 for Beltran, maybe 3 for Aramis if it's an AL team willing to DH him 50+ games.

I disagree. Teams that need offense will have to spend. Particularly considering how thin 3B is as a league-wide position.

I'll say 3 and maybe 4 on Beltran and definitely 4 on Aramis

Looking at the last 3 years of free agency, teams have really shied away from signing outfielders who aren't superstars to long term deals. From 08-10, these are the OFers who signed 3+ year contracts:

                              Milton Bradley
                              Raul Ibanez
                              Juan Rivera
                              Marlon Byrd
                              Jason Bay
                              Matt Holliday
                              Carl Crawford
                              Jayson Werth

I could see him getting an Ibanez 3/30 deal, but I'd be stunned if he gets more than 3 years.

                              For 3B:

                              Beltre
                              Uribe
                              Figgins
                              Polanco
                              Casey Blake

I'm not even sure why we're talking about Beltran.

The guy is not getting 4 years. He's injury prone and can't really play CF anymore. His knees won't be getting any better as he ages.

Signing Beltran sounds a lot worse than signing Papelbon if you ask me.
