I'd like to hear why. I mean, I already know that you know that the impact of a manager in MLB is very overstated.

So why are you pumped?

Well, if the impact of the manager on the field is limited, then we should explore what else he brings to the table. I think Ozzie can be a great recruiter for us in an incredibly important year. I think that's part of the reason why it was done so early (he can hit the trail already, even earlier for Pujols if the Braves hang on). Ozzie brings credibility with his ring and his flare to attract the best free agents on the market.

Also, as others said, it adds to the rebrand. Legitimacy comes in the form of getting the biggest name on the managerial market. He'll be huge with a Hispanic community that already deeply cares for the team. It's extremely possible that he'll add to the rising case for why the best Hispanic players (for this offseason, Pujols and Reyes, but beyond as well) should play ball in Miami. The Marlins will be in the news tomorrow, then again on Wednesday, and even more so going into the offseason. Well worth the expense.
