Dan Uggla is what he is in part because the Marlins gave him a shot at being an everyday starter. It is not unreasonable to ask him to take less money to return to the organization that gave him that opportunity.

That is why I have am very unfond of him.

And the Marlins were as good as they were the past couple of years, in part, because Dan Uggla consistently produced for them.

There's no way to know why he asked what he asked for.
And his agent also played a part in all of this, and probably had a big part in him feeling he deserved that, anyway.

Or maybe he felt he deserved $14 million per year, considering Chase Utley (same position) makes the same amount.

This was actually something he said on a radio show, as well, I believe.

Of course, it makes him stupid to think he's as good as Utley. Then again, most baseball players don't care for advanced defensive statistics, and he saw his consistent offensive #'s over the years/felt he was worth the same amount.

4/48 million is actually more money per year than 6/70.

Basically, the difference was the amount of years, in comparison.
