No. Jay was a robot. Dan Uggla was a robot with no battery.

      Why's that?

edit: It wasn't that he turned it down. It's that he then tried to make $1mil more than Hanley.

That is why I have am very unfond of him.
And the Marlins were as good as they were the past couple of years, in part, because Dan Uggla consistently produced for them.

Dan Uggla doesn't owe the Marlins anything.

If you're going to dislike an athlete for making a decision that he felt was best for him, you must dislike a lot of athletes.

At the end of the day, it's a business.

I didn't like him because he didn't like Hanley.

            That's just speculation.

No it's not. The contract he wanted was $1mil more than Hanley's would have been.

Well that's fine because it means we're both in agreement about Wes Helms.

Did he ever come out and say "yeah, I asked for 71 million because I'm the franchise player, not Hanley?"

There's no way to know why he asked what he asked for.
And his agent also played a part in all of this, and probably had a big part in him feeling he deserved that, anyway.

                    71 is 1 more than 70 millions.

There is no way that that deal was not to spite Hanley by demanding more slightly more money, after the problems that had been publicized during the years they have been together.

Or maybe he felt he deserved $14 million per year, considering Chase Utley (same position) makes the same amount.

This was actually something he said on a radio show, as well, I believe.

Of course, it makes him stupid to think he's as good as Utley. Then again, most baseball players don't care for advanced defensive statistics, and he saw his consistent offensive #'s over the years/felt he was worth the same amount.

Why are you defending someone who wears tight Affliction T-shirts?

Sources said Uggla never budged from his original demand of $71 million over five years.

Also, if he would've wanted his contract to compare to Hanley, wouldn't he have asked for 6 years instead of 5?

4/48 million is actually more money per year than 6/70.

Basically, the difference was the amount of years, in comparison.

Arguing about whether we should like Dan Uggla seems like a really really big waste of time, unless it's just for attention.

We argued over why I dislike Wes Helms and Omar Infante.
