It was a bang-bang play.
He stared at the ball a bit out of the box, but his speed got it to be a bang-bang play. Infante doesn't have Hanley's speed so assuming Infante hits the ball exactly the same way, I don't see that being a bang-bang play. Infante doesn't run the bases well. It's the reason why he needed a miracle slide in Washington to score a game-winning run on a 2B that should've clearly cleared the bases. The reason why he's a slap hitter who can't get an infield single at times when it seems like someone with speed would get there.
He's slow.

I personally like aggressive baserunning when it's not stupid. I don't consider it stupid when it's bang-bang.
Managers usually like their players to take the extra base and considering Hanley's run mattered a lot, I doubt McKeon will have a problem with that play.

When you don't get out of the box fast and you stumble around 1st, you take the blame for getting thrown out on the bang bang play. Doesn't necessarily mean it was stupid, but he made the wrong decision. 100%.
And it was stupid to you. Is there a rulebook out there to determine what's stupid and not stupid?
This is like saying Wise was stupid for going home after he stumbled around 3B with 0 outs last night/high probablity of scoring if he had stayed at 3B.
He was aggressive, and he failed. It happens. It was a bang-bang play.

And if it was clear-cut, then whatever. It was stupid of Dobbs not to go to 3B, then.
I just don't see the point in calling a bang-bang, aggressive play stupid. The time run in the 9th inning would've been in scoring position. I think it would've been stupid if it was 3-0 instead of 2-0, considering Hanley's run would've meant a lot less in the game situation.
Plus, I thought Hanley was safe after watching the replay. Although I'm sure someone got a snapshot of that to prove me wrong on that, perhaps. It was really close, though.
