Our true talent level based on how we've played right now is probably around where our overall record is, yes.

I think this is me saying that overall, this team is mediocre. I do not see how that is me absolving anyone of blame.

Beinfest put together a team that couldn't afford an injury to it's ace and injuries/underperformance to his best player. I think that's fair to say.

But to say that he's the reason we just went 5-23 with 12 straight one run losses is, I think, trying too hard to find an explanation for the inexplicable.

Sometimes it's OK to just say that we do not and can not know why something happened.

Don't we hear a new tidbit every day about how unprecedented this sort of stretch is?

There's bad management, and that leads to consistently lousy teams. Then there's 5-23 for a team that was 29-20. That, to me, defies explanation.
