PalmBeachPost asks the same question.
Correct me if I'm wrong (again, maybe the Marlins losing 16 of 17 has me going crazy), but I'm pretty sure that this makes no sense. In order for the Marlins to send Hanley Ramirez down, wouldn't they have to DFA him? In which case, he'd be picked up immediately by the Pirates (or whoever is first in the waiver order, considering the Pirates claimed Brandon Wood earlier this year)?
Are these professional journalists really this stupid or am I dumb? Considering they're the professionals, I really hope I'm wrong. I'm 99.9% sure I'm not, though.
Coghlan and Nolasco were sent down because they had options at the time...
This is Hanley Ramirez sixth full season in the big leagues. The Marlins can't just send him down if he "accepts the demotion," right?
