I guess Rasmus, Pujols and Holliday got lucky the whole game.

You're awesome at this, I see.

Still didn't answer my question, specifically about the 8th inning. Did they hit the ball hard that inning? Did JJ's stuff get worse as the game went on? Was he missing location?

I guess JJ should've been taken out in the 3rd or 4th inning, since he couldn't get Rasmus, Pujols, and Holliday out the first time.

Overall, a positive road trip against some good teams but there were a few tough losses in there. We did win a few close ones too though, so I'd say it all evened out in the end.

Yeah, Rasmus and Pujols had well hit balls, the cheap one came from Holliday. I wasn't home to watch the first inning but didn't the same exact thing happen then. JJ threw 114 pitches (65 for strikes 49 Balls) wasn't exactly hitting his spots today. Literally the only portion of the line up that hurt him were those 3 along with Berkman. It wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world if Edwin mixed and matched with the bullpen in that 8th.

By the way, it's worth noting that Rasmus had an .OPS over .800 against lefties last year, and has started off this year showing that he's capable of hitting them.

This includes last night when he faced Mike Dunn and he hit into a DP, although that ball was hit harder than any ball hit off of JJ in the 8th inning today.

So, it wasn't necessarily a "slam dunk move" to bring in Choate in that situation, either.

Colby Rasmus doesn't really have a Ryan Howard-like differential in his splits.

            I never said that.

And Pujols hit in the 8th inning was a little groundball through the hole.

Also, since your argument is not bringing him back out for the 8th inning, why are you including the pitches he threw in the 8th inning?

            He hadn't thrown 114 through 7.

Through 7, he had allowed 9 baserunners and he had 7 K's (which, btw, is a reason why it makes his situation different than Vazquez). He was pitching well; he was human, but he was still pitching well.

Just a random thought, this season in the NL East has all the making of similar 3 headed race the AL East had in 2008.
