JUPITER -- The Marlins have spoken internally about reacquiring former second baseman Luis Castillo, who was released on Friday by the New York Mets.
Castillo, who has one year remaining on his contract, is owed $6 million, which the Mets will now eat.
The 35-year-old second baseman played 10 seasons with the Marlins from 1996-2005 and won three Gold Gloves and two World Series rings with the team.
The Marlins have discussed Castillo as an option at second base if Matt Dominguez doesn't make the club and Omar Infante is moved to third base.
