shut him down because of elbow soreness at the end of last season as well.

It took Randy St. Claire all weekend to come up with an excuse to get out of the Lakeland trip.

Randy St. Claire is the pitching coach, not the picthing coach

very odd things, marlins.com is reporting it is an injury

Marlins right-hander Alex Sanabia is suffering from a sore right elbow, which resulted in him being scratched from Tuesday's start, manager Edwin Rodriguez told reporters in Lakeland, Fla., on Tuesday.

On Monday, Rodriguez suggested that Sanabia had been scratched to work on the mechanics of his delivery, rather than for a health-related issue.

Sanabia projects to start the year in Triple-A, but showed his ability in the Majors for part of last season. Sanabia went 5-3 with a 3.73 in 12 starts for Florida down the stretch in 2010.

                              Speaking of west...

Sean West will make his first spring training start on Thursday in a split-squad game against the Tigers. It will mark West’s first game since the Marlins sent him home from the Arizona Fall League after he complained of soreness in his left forearm.

West is the top left-handed starting option for the Marlins, who don’t have a southpaw in their five-man rotation.

“I’m pretty pumped,” West said of his scheduled spring debut. “Everything feels good.”

How many options does West have left, just this year?
