Just looking at it, JJ should pitch on the 2nd. Anibal would be slated to pitch again on the 5th.

If JJ pitches sun in a sim game.. fri puts him at 5 days.. With them playing Bos sat and its being an AL team would be wise to pitch him then so he can test out his stuff on a team they won't face.

You have to look backwards with JJ from the first day of the regular season. Counting backwards that way and assuming he pitches every 5th day, he should be scheduled to go on the 2nd. That's why Vazquez, Anibal and Volstad, the projected 3,4 and 5 starters are pitching on the days they are.

This is also the first week of games. They're not going to be throwing their entire arsenal of pitches. They never do this early. This is practice to get them ready for when it counts.

If JJ throws a simulated game on Sunday, hard to imagine he's going to pitch on the 2nd, 2 days later.

That's how they've been pitching so far. They're throwing bullpens every other day. And we're only talking about two innings. The simulated game probably wouldn't be much longer.

Right but bullpen session and simulated games are diff.. He pitches two innings he would go on 5 days rest then..which would put him fri with bullpen sessions in between.. then the next start would be 3 or 4 innings.

First week of spring training is different. Always seemed starters made appearances more than once every 5 days. The marlins seemed to double up starters previous years. So like #1 and #2 would pitch day 1 and then day 4 in the first week

JJ's first Grapefruit League game will be either March 2 or March 3. If he starts on March 2 against the Nationals at Viera, he would be lined up throwing every fifth day up until Opening Day.

Still no big update on Ricky Nolasco, other than Rodriguez saying that Alex Sanabia will be slotted in his place with the other starters.

Sanabia could start Thursday in Kissimmee against Houston.
