The Palm Beach Post's Joe Capozzi reports that the Marlins are considering signing Eric Chavez as insurance for Matt Dominguez at third base.

There's suddenly a market for Chavez after the 33-year-old put on a better-than-expected display during a recent workout. The Marlins have Emilio Bonifacio and Wes Helms as fallback options if Dominguez doesn't work out, but Chavez could potentially offer a bit more offensively.
