I think we can afford Javy and Nunez now. Great news.

I really wish we could acquire/sign a center fielder and have Cogs at second and Infante at third. It'd work out perfectly with Matty D almost ready.

                        Nice deal!

We can say what we want about the FO but I think the past two offseasons have been pretty solid (obviously the best thing about last offseason was JJ and this offseason...everything).

                            B Veteran Outfielder $410,000

                            SP Josh Johnson $7,750,000
                            SP Javy Vazquez $7,000,000
                            SP Ricky Nolasco $6,000,000
                            SP Anibal Sanchez $2,250,000
                            SP Chris Volstad $430,000
                            RP Leo Nunez $4,000,000
                            RP Clay Hensley $1,750,000
                            RP Edward Mujica $1,000,000
                            RP Brian Sanches $430,000
                            RP Ryan Webb $430,000
                            RP Mike Dunn $410,000
                            RP Veteran Lefty $410,000

                            $57,040,000

I'm not going to be that far off on the arbitration cases - Nolasco, Anibal, Nunez, Mujica, and Hensley. Those are the only variations besides the negligible club controlled dollars

Note: I am including Buck's $1.5 million signing bonus and around $750,000 of Infante incentive money. Or if Javy makes a few hundred thousand less. If those sums do not "count" towards team payroll, yes. Yes the Marlins keep Javy and Nunez for sub $55 million. If not, I don't see it.
                            --------------------
Regardless, if this is the team, in real world hypotheticals, I'd still want to remove Nunez $4 million, have Sanabia/other be in the pen, and spend $1 million each on a bench player and a left handed reliever. Are we really going to have Mike Dunn as our only left hander? That team seems more stable to me.

If we want to go all Upton on this, removing Nolasco and Nunez, and adding Upton, creates another $4 million to spend which could be used on a lower end 5th starter and same situation applies with the last bullpen (Sanabia), and bench (Cousins, Petersen).
                            --------------------
Vazquez agreement is 1 yr, $7M. Full no-trade clause. Team cannot offer salary arbitration. Physical this week. #Marlins #MLB
Full no trade? Who the fuck is running this team? Who kidnapped them?

Sounds like he's gone at the end of the year if we can't offer him arbitration.

Why is he gone at the end of the year? You no longer need to offer arbitration to retain negotiation rights.
