  • Bill James' Hitter Projections

    For likely Marlins:

    Michael Stanton: .268/.355/.556 72 XBHs, 38 HRs, 59 BBs, 169 Ks
    Hanley Ramirez: .312/.389/.520 69 XBHs, 25 HRs, 68 BBs
    Gaby Sanchez: .277/.353/.458 60 XBHs, 20 HRs, 63 BBs
    Logan Morrison: .280/.370/.439 56 XBHs, 9 HRs, 73 BBs
    Cameron Maybin: .277/.349/.424 43 XBHs, 14 HRs, 55 BBs
    Dan Uggla: .263/.352/.483 67 XBHs, 31 HRs, 76 BBs
    Chris Coghlan: .297/.369/.430 48 XBHs, 9 HRs, 58 BBs

He's a lot more optimistic than I think most of us would be on most of the players, specifically Stanton and Maybin. If Stanton wants to turn into a top 10 hitter in the league next year like he expects, than we're going to be awesome.

Is that Uggla line worth $12 million a year?

          No, the Angels have Wood.

I am a fan of those slash lines though.

If Uggla goes I think Wood would be an awsome target to try and aquire and bring into spring training to compete for 3b job. So I'd love to get wood. And I'd take all of them projections.

Also if Stanton hits for that much power hewill draw more walks.

                Wood had a .382 OPS in 232 PA last year. Yes, I said .382 O P S. 6/71 BB/K.

Doesn't James usually tend to the more pessimistic side with these things, especially with young hitters like Stanton?

And he was terrible defensively, if I recall.

                      I believe he's an optimist.

He was actually a good defensive player last season at 3b. Had a 6.6 UZR in 412 innings. Not very good at SS though. I definitely wouldn't be against letting him compete for a spot in ST if they could pick him up.

Brandon Wood is the first player with ML experience to be in the AFL (I think)

I can't imagine that's correct Ramp. Cishek is there right now too.
