Colorado might not be the only team interested in Uggla. There are 5 teams looking at Ty Wigginton right now-Phillies,Yankees,Rockies,Twins,Angels.

Now since there will be 4 teams that won't get him,it is said Uggla could be Plan B for most of them. The Twins not really sure of due to the fact they said they can add salary but want a 3B.

Not saying he is getting dealt(So please all the Dan Uggla Fan Club Members calm down) but the market will be out there if we wanna deal him

The Marlins probably need to go on a White Sox-type run to avoid a breakup, but if they do decide to sell, then the Rockies will be ready to talk Dan Uggla and there is some sense that both sides feel as if they would match up well on a deal the Marlins might have some interest in catcher Chris Iannetta, as well as some of the Rockies' pitching.

didn't ianetta sign a decent-sized contract last year? why would we want salary back if we were shedding salary?

          I'd welcome Chris.

Ianetta makes 2.5 next year, and 3.75 included buyout in 2012. Very reasonable for a catcher.

I like him, but he is a right hander and pounds lefties. We kind of have that player already, and Paulinos arbitration isn't far off from what Ianetta would be. If he's the second piece in a deal, fine, and it does give us leeway to move Paulino or Baker or even Ianetta to a contender July 31 for presumably a good relief prospect or more (red sox would love them right now).

But that first piece needs to be chacin or friedrich. If they trade Uggla, we need someone who projects to eat 200 innings as at least a third starter. I like Brothers as a second piece personally, but that may be asking for to much upside with the arms.

The Rockies agreed in principle on a multiyear deal Thursday with a catcher — but it wasn't Yorvit Torrealba. The Rockies agreed to a three-year, $8.35 million contract with Chris Iannetta with a $5 million club option for his first year of free agency.
That's actually a very nice contract. He's earning 1.75 this year so it'll be 6.6 for 2011 and 2012. He's definitely worth more he's got an .806 career ops and a .793 this season. And this team really has nothing at the Catcher position (I'm not a Paulino believer) and it can also save them from an MLB scolding for shedding salary if they actually bring a little bit back.

Iannetta is not for me and I don't see the Marlins paying him 6.6 for 2011 and 2012 when Baker and Paulino combined will "likely" cost less. I can see the Marlins being interested in the Rockies AA catching prospect however.

Paulino easily makes what Ianetta does in arbitration after this season. Moot point there.

If the Marlins think Ianetta performs better, and want to "sell high" on paulino, that makes some sense. Still maintain they need chacin or friedrich back, if not chacin due to MLB readyness.

Yeah, finances shouldn't be an issue here.

Ianetta makes $2.55 mil next season and $3.55 mil in 2012. With a $5 mil club option for 2013 with only a $250k buyout. Where are you getting $5.5mil from?

It certainly upgrades C. But it's such a marginal upgrade when next year we still have Q at 3b and possibly other positions. Q at SP behind JJ, Q at bullpen behind Nunez (if even Nunez). Q in our minors for basically everything.

IMO we shouldn't even keep Paulino next year. Not just in a "Sell high in hopes someone sees him as a starter", but catcher is filled to the brim with right handed hitter guys who'll slug lefties for you. We don't need to pay Paulino a few Ms to do it. Certainly you'd rather go with the known quality and it's not much money for that, but again 1) budget and 2) other needs where that budget should go.
