Moved the Nolasco talk here since that's more in tune with the purpose of that thread.

I could be wrong but I believe Tucker has an option remaining.

          * Note though that the Marlins may have received an extra year on Ryan Tucker because he was out for the entire season last year. (I believe they did this with Tankersley)

If what I said (with the injury) is true then yes. However, he was called up in 08 and sent down (option used) sent down last year (option used) and sent down again this year (option used) so that's all three.

Injury or not I believe he has another option remaining (90% sure)

Lou or Nny are the experts in this so hopefully one of them knows.

              You only receive 3 options.

              2008
6/8/08 Optioned C Paul Hoover to Triple-A Albuquerque; Purchased the contract of RHP Ryan Tucker from Double-A Carolina.
7/23/08 Optioned RHP Ryan Tucker to Double-A Carolina.
9/14/08 Recalled OF Cameron Maybin, RHP Ryan Tucker and RHP Jesus Delgado from Double-A Carolina. Selected the contract of INF Gaby Sanchez from Double-A Carolina.
              First option used

              2009

3/24/09 Optioned RHP Ryan Tucker to Triple-A New Orleans. Optioned RHP Tim Wood to Double-A Jacksonville
Second optioned used. Now, if they do the injury thing, this wouldn't count

              2010
03/11/10 Florida Marlins optioned RHP Ryan Tucker to New Orleans Zephyrs.
              Third optioned used.
              LHP Chad James-Jupiter Hammerheads-

              5-15 3.80 ERA (27 starts) 149.1IP 173H 63ER 51BB 124K

It's not each time being sent down is an option. It's a year by year thing.

Unless I am misunderstanding your wording of option.

Correct, and he was sent down three different years for more than 20 days.

I am no expert in this but I believe Vanden Hurk was optioned 4 times (07,08,09,10)

Correct. I wondered the same thing as well. I found something back in ST (when he was sent down) somewhat explaining why he was able to be sent down a fourth year. I think it had something to do with the number of days he was sent down. I'll see if I can find it.

If a player has less than 5 years of experience, he may be optioned to the minors in a fourth season without being subject to .

I was just suggesting that that could have been the case

In that case Tucker definitely has an option remaining.

Regardless of how many options he has I'll be surprised if he is a Marlin next yr.

He was drafted in 05, so he has played five years, right?
