      • So we can all cry and say how dumb the Marlins are for trading a dude on a super team friendly deal with numerous years left...and they deserve it.

But even the most optimistic of us didn't see Yelich becoming a perennial MVP candidate immediately after the trade. It seemed being a 5-6 WAR player was going to be his ceiling, which for most people is a damn good ceiling. Becoming an 8+ guy like he's quickly becoming is next level stuff. Basically every power projection discussed for Yelich since he was drafted but never fully realized with the Marlins just happened overnight.

It's incredible how good he's gotten. I'm fairly confident this growth doesn't happen in Miami for one reason or another.

          Yelich 59 HR’s in 643 games as a Marlins

          54’s in 188 games as a Brewer.

          • I remember back in 2011/2012 we had discussions about what Yelich's power potential was. It seemed consensus was he'd settle in at 20-25 home runs annually, maybe occasionally going above 30.

Holy crap did his power blossom in a damn hurry. He was never a power threat in Miami. Just another example of culture being a problem and not always the player themselves.
