  • Mike Stanton Called Up, FO Reshuffles Bullpen and Bench

Amid a series of moves, the Marlins announced they're calling up outfielder and top prospect Mike Stanton, who will join the team Tuesday and be in the lineup when they open a three-game series in Philadelphia.

Widely regarded as one of the top five prospects in baseball, the 6-5, 233-pound power-hitter is the most anticipated call-up since for the Marlins since Miguel Cabrera was promoted from the minors in 2003.

    The Miami Herald

    • Mike Lamb was DFA'd
    • Brett Carroll sent to AAA New Orleans
    • Tim Wood sent to AAA New Orleans
    • Emilio Bonifacio recalled
    • Rick VandenHurk recalled

For some reason the original post went poof.

Please recreate the excitement from earlier.

Where we sticking him in the line up? 6 hole to start? Are we keeping h2r in the lead off spot?

Just bought 4 tickets for his home debut.

First row in the fish tank for $9 each. StubHub rules.

I think it'd be very easy to bat him 5th in the "new" lineup.

Could even bat him 3rd if Hanley stays at the top.

If Hanley's hitting leadoff, I think I could go with:

              Hanley
              CC
              Uggla
              Cantu
              Stanton
              Cody
              Paulino
              Gaby

I hate burying our 3rd best OBP guy 8th, but I think hitting in the 8th spot works for him, with his plate discipline.

Personally, I want him second (ahead of Hanley) or sixth between Uggla and Cody. But batting Cody seventh is kind of a waste.

Cody is 6th in that one.

Right, if it's the new Hanley leadoff lineup, 5th makes the most sense.

But I assume that's just a temporary gimmick.

                      if Hanley is 3rd:

                      Coghlan
                      Sanchez
                      Hanley
                      Uggla
                      Stanton
                      Cantu
                      Ross
                      Paulino

if Hanley leads off (which is tarded but whatevz):

                      Hanley
                      Coghlan
                      Cantu
                      Uggla
                      Stanton
                      Ross
                      Paulino
                      Sanchez

Funny how I think most of us would agree that Gaby should be either in the 2nd spot or the 8th.

I think to have him 8 is fucking stupid, but it's the only way if Hanley leads off, which is also fucking stupid. Therefore that whole lineup would be fucking stupid despite being the only way it makes sense. How's that for a mindfuck?

meh maybe against lefties you want Gaby batting somewhere but 8th but against righties he should be hitting 8th. I fell victim to small sample size earlier in the year but Im going back to my opinion of him in that he wont hit righties very good.

He's also only got a .280 BABIP against RHP, so there's room for moderate improvement.
