Yes, the Marlins have been held to three runs in the last three games. Yes, the Marlins have been manhandled by two pitchers with ERAs north of 5. Yes, the Marlins have a team OPS of .720 (20th in MLB).
But look at the bright side:
1) Gaby has and continues to exceed expectations by more or less carrying over his April numbers into May.
2) Hanley cares now.
3) CC and Ross aren't doing their best Cameron Maybin impressions anymore.
4) Brett Hayes and Wes Helms aren't going to start together everyday.
5) This core has put up an OPS of .766 since 2006.
6) Most importantly, the problems with the lineup are not systemic. With one or two tweaks the offense should turn it around.
While it is extremely frustrating to watch this team scratch out a run, this is still the National League. Treading water for another couple of weeks is not going to be the end of the world*. Yes, I'm going there...
June is around the corner. Despite his recent struggles, Mike Stanton is almost here. Mike Stanton can best a .631 OPS with his eyes closed and one hand tied behind his back.
Happy days aren't guaranteed but the offense will not be this bad much longer.
*We'll talk in October if they finish two games out of a playoff spot though.
