  • Just got word from a source that Joe Beimel has been traded to the Colorado Rockies. Not sure who the Nats will be getting in return. Will post with update soon.

Meantime, Nick Johnson hasn't been traded. Or at least he hasn't gotten word of anything -- not as of 3:10 p.m. Still 50 minutes until the deadline.

The latest twitter post from Joe Frisaro, the Miami-based MLB.com writer, suggests a Johnson deal probably won't happen.

    • Tucker and Thompson for Johnson isn't horrible, but it's definitely sloppy seconds and I guess it would have been a reach for us.
      Record when He pitches: 3-2

I think he can be a pretty solid middle of the rotation guy

has command of all 4 pitches

                    • They say Marlins ended talks with Johnson and this guy says 2 seconds later, "Nick Johnson might get the moved, the Marlins are looking at him."

                      • Source: Marlins get Nats' Johnson — 3:53 p.m.
The Marlins have acquired first baseman Nick Johnson for the Nationals for Class AA left-hander Aaron Thompson, according to a major-league source.

The Nationals will pay the approximately $1.8 million remaining on Johnson's salary.

Johnson is a free agent at the end of the season.
                        YES!

                          • Good deal. If this is true, it's a job well done by the boys in the front office.
