Actually, I believe that Cardinals win combined with the Cubs loss vaults the Cards into a tie for first in the NL Central. If they keep winning, we can take care of the Cubs ourselves.

Hopefully LA can keep pushing Atlanta back in the standings. Have to think the Giants have a good shot of evening their series tonight with Timmy Boy on the mound.

Hopper at a disadvantage tonight, but we have the hype of a new player in the order.

Colorado and Florida are both off today. Philadelphia is also off, so we won't be gaining or losing any territory on them tonight.

And now, introducing a new series tradition, Where We Stand:

Where We Stand heading into Washington
3.0 back of the Wild Card (4th place)
5.0 back of the Division (2nd place)
9-6 since the All Star Break
                        9-3 since the Phillies' sweep
1-1 in the Nick Johnson Era

                        Upcoming Road Trip
                        3 @ Washington (9-0 on year, 3-0 on road)
                        3 @ Philadelphia (2-7 on year, 2-1 on road)

Man, sweeping the nats would be so huge. But I don't know if we can do it, they seem to be playing better as of late.

Fucking sucks that the phillies play the Rockies coming up. Guess you have to hope Philly sweeps them and we can take care of them on the weekend...

I don't think it sucks at all - it's a win/win for us the way I see it. If Colorado wins the series, we can potentially gain ground on the division without losing on the Wild Card if we take care of our end (2/3). If the Phillies win the series, we can gain ground on the Wild Card if we take care of business with a chance to make our own hole in the division lead over the weekend.

it can be a win/win, but it can also be a lose/lose. if the marlins lose 2 out of 3, or be sweep we lose a total of 3 games in the wild card or division

Losing 2 games vs the Natinals is not an option for a Wild Card team.
