Still kinda early to tell but so far a nice draft where they got guys they needed in the system(Power Bats who are in spots they need who will "should" be ready in 2021). To make this a great draft is keep it up today and on Day 3 take some talent/gamble on guys who will sign for 125K
Exactly. That's why I wanted them to go after as many power bats as possible. Give yourself as many cracks at finding one as possible.

    • Looking back at last year's draft, I think we all know about Scott & Banfield & of Osiris' injury. Anybody know what the latest is on Tristan Pompey's injury? When will he be back. He was very impressive in 2018, a bummer he hasn't been able to follow up, it seemed like he'd be a fast riser. Nick Fortes has dealt with injuries this year as well. Only 78 ABs, but quietly holding his own in Jupiter, .716 OPS for a Catcher in Jupiter is actually quite good I'd say, we'll see if he can keep it up. Vallimont has been really good in Clinton, probably worthy of a promotion to Jupiter. So I'd have to say very early returns on College players they drafted round 3-5 last year are pretty good. Hopefully that's a sign of things to come since they've gone so heavy on College guys this draft.

Fangraphs had a post that they think Vallimont is the best 5th rounder, or whatever, from last year. So that certainly can be a find.

I would have to think the plan with Barstad would've been to start him at Batavia anyway, no?

              • gotta give you props tjfla, idk how the fuck you do it but your knowledge of these draft kids and some of these draft picks that have barely played in our system is pretty impressive. I generally dont start following these guys until they get to Clinton/old greensboro level and i've never heard of half of these recent draft picks/DSL guys you are rattling off.

                • Great start to draft thru Rd 5 however Rd 6-10 all senior guys who are nothing special. Some older RP guys and 2 CF with speed

                    • Not really a fan of any of the senior guys except Evan Edwards. We already have 6-8 22 yr old+ RP in Ex ST and tons of OF who are younger than both of them

                      • MD Johnson's Senior stats are pretty intriguing, but all the picks after we're pretty meh.

                        • I know what they were doing with picks 6-10 my issue was why 3 RP and 2 OF bats? Last thing we need in system is more 23 yr old RP and OF

Today should be interesting. See if they take some "talent" early and then go for a few HS players and see if they can sign them. Need BATS(prefer C/IF types) however instead of RP at this point

                          • Not a bad Day 3 so far. Thru Rd 20 they got some C depth, few guys with talent(if they sign),good looking SP and lou's favorite LHR(All 3 lefties are RP)

                            • Yeah I like those last two College Catchers, solid stats for top programs.

Rowan was born in 1995 so older guy. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in Clinton as the backup C very soon
