    Ok "mainge"

And I didn't Todd, it's just hard for people to admit when they're wrong around here and everyone was wrong about Skipworth while I took shit for deriding the pick. Mike Zunino is Jeff Mathis. Book it.

You did Todd. No one here was wrong, because no one here takes actual stances on players they couldn't possibly know would pan out or not (Todd excluded). You had zero idea of whether or not he'd be good but you happen to be right, which is fine. You get to beat your chest for a while.

You also told everyone that would listen that we should have taken Justin Smoak with that pick. The same Justin Smoak with the career .680 OPS.

You Todd'd when you made ridiculous comments about Zunino and then everyone told you how silly those comments were and then you decided to avoid ever addressing those comments in that thread.

Good god Smoak is barely outslugging Emilio for their careers.

Smoak's #2 similar batter is Orestes Destrade though.

Okay...and Skipworth may not ever reach the majors

Smoak is also 25. Similar batters through 24 include Tino Martinez, Mo Vaughn and two HOFers. So, you know, we can all pick whatever comp scores we like.

Yeah but you were still wrong. Because you don't know anything more than anyone else does.

It's hard to admit when you're wrong, I know. It gets easier though.

Also, why did you call that post a prediction?

I admit that was a wondering and not a prediction. I forgot what I said and did not go back and look it up.

Most first round draft picks miss. You guessed that a first-round pick you had never seen would miss.

                        You are "right."

Also, this is pretty hilarious, considering you used the Hatcher thing as a way to beat your chest.

                        Good God, dude.

Previous 10 No. 6 picks before Kyle Skipworth.

Ross Detwiler, Andrew Miller, Ricky Romero, Jeremy Sowers, Ryan Harvey, Zack Grienke, Josh Karp, Rocco Baldelli, Josh Girdley, Ryan Mills.

Four of them never made the majors, and two (Miller and Sowers) were pretty big busts.

You flipped a coin, called heads and then told us to suck your dick because tails did not come up.

The Skipworth pick hurts because Posey was picked just before. I know they had no chance to select him, but I'm willing to bet the Marlins would've selected Skipworth before Posey because Posey had a large salary bonus demand that the Marlins wouldn't have been willing to match.

But Skipworth was a great high school player. It's sometimes hard to get into the mindset of a kid fresh out of high school and project how they'll grow as a hitter over the next four or so years. Skipworth was just a bad break pick (we desperately needed the draft a catcher, and Skipworth was the highest rated one available. It was the right pick at the time).

see, that's what pissed me off the most about the whole thing. i said this then and i'll say it now: you do NOT draft for need in the MLB draft - ESPECIALLY not with a high schooler.

It's not like Skip was a tremendous reach, though.
