It's a good thing that Fernandez looks awesome, because James has been horrible this year.

Decided to look at the Zephyrs stats tonight.

Anyone know anything about Cole Armstrong? Specifically how well he is behind the plate? Cole currently leads the team in OPS .874. And hit for that same OPS last year in 68 games for salt lake. I love Hayes but let's all be realistic, he probably won't keep this up and we should keep watch of our other in house options.

Luke Montz is hitting a home run in every 12 at bats thus far (7 HR total). He is hitting an outstanding .220. He's not someone I'd keep my eye on but his power stroke was worth mentioning.

Petey has gotten on base at over a 40% clip. He hasn't played in May yet; is he injured (I may have missed or forgotten this)?

The rest of the players batting statistics listed are just pitiful.

Sanabia is off to a hot start. HE'S ONLY WALKED 2 BATTERS IN 37.2 INNINGS. 1.17 WHIP 2.39 ERA thus far.

LeBlanc is off to a good start as well 35 IP 32 K 9 BB 1.14 WHIP 3.60 ERA

Hand has given up 7 HRs. The other four starters combined have given up 8.

Koehler is walking to many and getting hit but he has been the best at keeping the ball inside the ballpark.

Opponents are batting .358 against J.D. Martin. He's only walked 4 thus far. And I would estimate his K rate to be close to his career average. Could just be unlucky don't care enough to look into it.

Jennings has already been called up. And I thought I saw a post saying Hatcher would be called up in the past few days. They have both done well.

Delaney has had a great line thus far ERA and WHIP wise in 20.1 innings. But he has 12 Ks and 7 BBs.

Rosario is the reliever I would point out. It's his 14 Ks and 1 BB in 12.2 innings.

I was the one who said Hatcher would be called up and he was for yesterday's game (even though I don't know anything about baseball/prospects according to some people). They also just called up Rosario.

Petersen isn't injured, he didn't play in May because until yesterday he was on the Marlins' MLB roster (pay attention)

Luke Montz is garbage.

Armstrong is not really a prospect, he is almost 30 years old, last year's OPS that you referred to was 150 points over his career minor league average and he only had 190 ABs. He is, however, a bad ass:

Armstrong threatened to kill a Minor League umpire on the field in 2007 according to an account in author Bruce Weber's 2009 book, "As They See 'Em: A Fan's Travels in the Land of Umpires." Only July 11, 2007, Armstrong, the catcher that day for Winston-Salem, was ejected in the bottom of the eighth inning from a game between Winston-Salem and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans by umpire Andy Russell. Russell tells the following story on page 124 of Weber's book:

"In the bottom of the eighth with two out, a Myrtle Beach runner [Derrick Arnold] stole second. Andy called the runner safe on a close play, and the next batter [Roberto Alvarez] hit a home run. 'That's when the catcher came sprinting out and went off on me,' Andy said. 'He said, 'That's on you.' And he said, 'You don't even know, I'm going to effing kill you.'"

Russell said the altercation and death threat from Armstrong prompted him to abruptly quit umpiring -- he was replaced on the field the following day by a new umpire, Andy Dudones.

Not sure what's going on with Hand's HR rate as it's wildly out of character with his career stats, I can only assume that's the PCL effect

It's hard to remember but Sanabia is only 23. I think we'll see him at some point later this year or next year if he keeps it up. Glad to see he's rebounded from his injury last year.
