I think we've seen enough of Volstad to know what we have. This doesn't mean that I think Hand should be up in the majors. It just means that Volstad shouldn't right now.

He absolutely stinks right now. I hope he figures it out in AAA, I really do. And yea, people around here are starting to hate Chris and it has nothing to do with Chris himself. It has to do with your insanity surrounding him.

How is it not Hand vrs. Volstad? You think Hand deserves to fucking stay in the rotation? He who averages 3 walks a game and has only pitched into the 6th inning twice in eight games (one against the Astros who really are fielding a AA team this year) deserves to stay in the rotation? Look at his stats in my sig? He's averaging less than 5 innings a start and, until yesterday, had been extremely lucky not to get shelled a couple times. Just compare that to Volstad's last 8 starts in the majors and you'll see a big difference.

Yes, they both have things to work on but at least Volstad isn't going to drain the bullpen every 5 days.

5.36 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, 5 IP/start, 2 K/9, .840 OPS against.

Volstad has a FIP of 4.50...he's a solid 4/5. You can find 4/5's anywhere so what's so bad about having him in the minors now working on his stuff? Hell, maybe he can learn something. Slim chance obviously but who cares if he's on the MLB team right now? We aren't going anywhere and we might as well try to help him and see if he can become something in the future because he's still young.

I think Volstad is awful. I don't think he's gonna get better anymore. We're 93 starts into his career. He is what he is. I'd rather have him up here getting his ass kicked than Hand, who could be good one day but isn't ready.
