Um, this is supposed to be baseball right? I vote to keep it the same.
This is a Dolphins town, though.

They do split season in baseball. I give you AA level baseball.

Not a fan of playing 81 meaningless games. Want to play meaningful games in August? Don't suck the first four months.

We play 162 meaningless games now.

Only if you suck. No thanks to an 81 game pre-season.

I still like you. Just not split seasons.

                  What about 16 team play-offs?

Why not introduce some fun rules like relegation or in season cups for prizes?

At the all star break, you could throw the bottom 16 teams into a tournament for draft picks. This tournament would take place during the season. Your draft pick is decided based on where you finish the tournament - winner gets first pick, runner up second, third place third, etc. That way the draft is more interesting, you avoid tanking, and the shitty teams have something to play for.
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

ASB doesn't work, because what if, for instance, Sandro's one of those bottom 16 teams by the ASB, makes the playoffs, wins the World Series and this tournament?

Also, OOTP doesn't give a ton of creative license with playoffs, so any in-season tournament would be completely restricted to the existing schedule, so it'd have to be something as simple as "best record from here on out" or something.

We could designate certain games on the schedule as tournament games.

For example for 2008, we rank 1-8 per league based on 2007 record and as the teams play each other the bracket gets dwindled down. The result of one game or series determines which the winner's next opponent later on in the schedule.
                          --------------------
Winner of the tournament wins $5 million or w/e on the next season's cap space.
                          --------------------
If the sim let's you edit the schedule, I would be happy to provide a schedule in which the tournament takes place over a month or whatever.
                          --------------------
Bottom 8 teams can play for a top prospect.

I think that, in the off chance this happens (remember, the tournament being in season would affect player rest for regular season games - do you throw your ace in a tournament game to get a chance at a trophy/pick or do you shoot for the big prize at the end of the year?), you chalk it up as an incredible season by a once in a lifetime team and move on. Besides, why punish someone who potentially made great deadline moves to swing his race?

Also, as Festa said, you designate certain dates as open dates for club play. The non-bottom 16 (or whatever) get extra days off to reward them for being among the better teams in the league and in contention for the playoffs.
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

We need to turn this into a couple of polls.

Poll 1: What format of the CSBC do you prefer?
Choices: 81 game split season schedule, Festa's 4 suggestions and keep the 182 game schedule

Poll 2: Would you be in favor of the side tournament?
