He allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Phillies in his last start Thursday.
"I know that he still has a lot to offer and we still haven't seen the best of Volstad yet,' Rodriguez said.
"We haven't even talked about sending him back. Whatever adjustments he has to make, he has to do it up here. And then we have to live with that. He is a big part of the Marlins' future, so we have to be patient with him.'
