SAN DIEGO – The Padres and Dodgers appeared on the verge of a Matt Kemp blockbuster late Wednesday night, sources said.
The sides were said to be exchanging final information n before a deal is presumably consummated that would move the superstar outfielder 90 miles to the south, to play for the division rival Padres.
The Dodgers asked for catcher Yasmany Grandal plus young pitchers Joe Ross and Zach Eflin. Grandal was believed to be the centerpiece of the package, though it isn't known what the final package was.
