No matter how you choose to evaluate them, Andrus is among the best in the game at adding value both in the field and on the bases. His career UZR at shortstop is +29, and when you factor in the positional adjustment, that comes out to +55 runs in defensive value over the last four years, putting him #7 in MLB. At +29 runs in baserunning value, he’s #2 over the last four years. Between his glove and his legs, we’re talking an average of +21 runs above average per year during his career to date. That makes him a two win player before he ever sets foot in the batters box.

Beltre has three years left on his deal if I'm not mistaken, and Ian Kinsler just signed for five years last season. Now if Andrus is under contract, Profar is blocked unless they decide they want to trade Kinsler now...

EDIT: Or move him to 1B apparently

Oh, and Elvis Andrus is a hell of a shortstop defensively...in no way shape or form is he worth $120 million. Crazy if not an April Fool's Prank, which would be a dumb prank honestly.

A deal also would increase the chances of the Rangers’ top prospect, Jurickson Profar, moving from shortstop to second, with second baseman Ian Kinsler eventually moving to first.

It's not as silly as I originally thought but it's not ideal either.

He would have been below average offensively as a 1B last season but that was his worst season of his career. Assuming a bounce back, he'd probably be above average. If he doesn't, it's gonna suck.

Of course, he's better off at 2nd. But whatever

It won't matter anyway. Profar and Olt will be in Miami in a couple of years after they trade for Stanton.

WGN just referenced Run Expectancy charts in the first inning. Is this a thing they do regularly?

Anybody want to explain this logic to me?

Hypothetical situation: pitcher gives up single, pulled from game. Reliever comes in, gives up triple. First guy gets charged the ER, second only charged with a hit.

I know it's been like that for a long time, I just think it's silly that the relief pitcher gets off the hook in that situation. Why not split the ER between the two?
                        *Is a huge fucking asshole*

Simplicity - it'd have to be different for runner on first, second, and/or third and would also have to depend on the amount of outs at the time. Then what if one guy comes in and he moves inherited runner from first to third and is then replaced by guy that gives up the run? What if that guy gives up the run due to a hit? Due to sac fly? Due to ground out? Ya know?

                              Kershaw homered.

                              1-0 Bottom 8.

Clayton Kershaw just crushed a homerun since no one on LA was scoring any runs to support his shut out.
