Dear MLB,

If you are concerned with growing the game at home and abroad please implement rule changes to shorten these games. No nine inning 4-3 game should last anywhere near 3 hours and 45 minutes. I firmly believe that time of game is the biggest threat to the league right now. Please do something about it.

Two possibilities we discussed:

1. Drastically lower the number of warmup pitches that relievers are allowed to throw when they're brought into the game during the middle of an inning. You were just was warming up for 5-10 minutes. Three pitches from the new mound and start playing again.
2. Eliminate the pausing, mid-AB, when runners are on base. If you're a batter and you step out of the battery's box during an AB with runners on, you are assessed a strike. If you're a pitcher and you step off, you get charged a ball.

Only exceptions to both are as a result of injuries.

I doubt the first would work, simply from a tv perspective. Pitching changes are an opportunity for the tv networks to go to commercials. Cutting down warm up pitches to 3 takes away that commercial break and results in less money for the network.
