Mibs, it's too bad you didn't get to watch any of the games in Japan. The atmosphere is great. The home fans don't cheer when their team is pitching and goes nuts when their team is at bat.
I hope we can get 25k-30k for the games here in Miami. It's going to be electric.
I'm glad the US looks to have won this. I also enjoyed watching Taillon pitch. He's got great stuff. Hopefully he'll develop and switch sides and pitch for his country of birth and residence in the next WBC.
I watch Japanese baseball a lot. I love pretty much all things baseball. But to me, this isn't really "competitive" because my horse in the race is obviously USA and I don't feel it's a USA team, it's just whoever decided they'd commit. In my opinion it should be after the World Series. That way even if there's an injury there's enough time to rehab before the season, you don't have to worry about the extra innings wearing a pitcher's arm down if you're a contender, etc.

Korean baseball does the same thing with the cheering. Each player has their song in Japan and the crowd sings it when that player is batting. It's much more like a college football student section atmosphere.
Really if you're a person who likes things that are good, you should probably go to Japan anyways in your lifetime and it's easy to fit a baseball game into a trip.
Also, WBC is a much bigger deal in Taiwan and Korea (and I would assume Japan) than it is here. My Korean friends were talking about the WBC over a year in advance, it sucks that they got knocked out already.

I can't ever see them doing it after the World Series. They'd be competing with college football, NFL, college basketball, NBA, NHL for viewers/headlines/etc.
