Nah, Chewie, the Rays are still super cheapos. They're just really, really smart about it. That contract is super cheap.

B.J. Upton and #Braves are in agreement, pending physical. Terms of contract not yet known.
        I'd rather have Bourn.

Remember a few months ago we were taking about BJ likely signing with us. Those were the good old days.

I don't think it was ever "likely", mm21.

And while $15mil per is an awful lot, I happen to think he's only going to get better.

(Note: I don't love the deal, but I think he can outperform it)

                            • Todd is right. They did overpay.

Upton hasn't really had a good year at the plate since '09. He posted a paltry .296 OBP and struck out 165 times last season. His defense has been regressing as well. He was below average defensively in 2012 and was only slightly better than mediocre in the two years prior to that.

                              Upton isn't very good.

I'm not sure why you think this. Is it just a gut feeling or do you have evidence?

                              It's not like he's that young, either. He's 28.
