  • Kerry Wood's 20k game vs Houston

    Comment

    • He was sent down.

Volstad dropped from rotation: A day after his latest poor performance, Cubs starting pitcher Chris Volstad (0-6) was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Friday, according to MLB.com. Volstad lasted just two innings -- his shortest outing of the season -- and permitted four runs and six hits during Chicago's 8-7 loss to Philadelphia. He also walked three batters and struck out two -- the third straight game he's finished with more walks than strikeouts. The Cubs selected the contract of catcher Blake Lalli from Iowa to take Volstad's spot on the roster.

                  • One of the coolest moments I've ever seen:

Video:Kerry Wood faces his last batter. Strikes him out. Son gives him a hug as he walks to the dugout.

At least he's not the worst pitcher in the National League anymore

That Astros team lead the NL in runs and batted .280 as a team. It had two hall of famers and another guy in Alou who could be a borderline case.

And he struck out 20 of them while allowing only 1 hit. That's amazing.
