Verducci says the Marlins have indeed offered a 6 year deal to Wilson.
Hope so. I much prefer Wilson to Buerhle though don't really care for either. We are dead set on spending too much money though so hey...take the higher upside guy, I suppose.

Source: If #Angels don't match #Marlins' six-year offer, C.J. Wilson likely to sign with Miami. @MLBONFOX
This can maybe happen soon..

If the Angels are offering him 5, I would think they'd still be the favorites unless we're offering a shit ton more money. Unkess the money is way more, I would think he'd favor his hometown Angels.

If the Angels are offering 5 and we are offering 6, CJ Wilson would be silly to not sign with us.
I feel like this was a tough scenario for the Marlins. I think teams have to overpay in some respect to get the type of players they have gone after. If they tried to be smart with their offers, chances are they get outbid and miss out so they might not have a choice but to go above what they consider true value for these guys if they want to prove to everyone they can acquire talent.
