He's not getting $100 million in LA, and is not worth $100 million anywhere. Why would you pay him more than Weaver.

Weaver got 85/5 from LAA and he gave them a discount (huge discount if you ask me), and CJ is asking for $100 mil with a discount? That's just too funny. Good luck CJ.

After hearing about how low a lot of these offers are, I think Loria asked for separate bills.

I have, it's VERY good. They're Lobster Bisque is amazing and so is the Mahi-Mahi. My girlfriend loves their stone crabs, I'm not huge on eating that.

You want to get a good bang for your buck, go to POC. POC is a buffet (about 16/lunch and 22/dinner per person) that serves everything. Fresh made Sushi, Stone Crabs, Ribeye, Churrasco, fried rice and a bunch of other food. Also, their dessert is great, specially the Thai Donuts.

Whenever you guys have a chance give this place a shot, you won't regret it.

You can't declare when you're likely just going to be non-tendered, Metes.

Weaver had a year of arbitration left so the Angels had some leverage over him. They would never have to go to the annual $23-25 with what Cliff/CC are getting. Saying that, Weaver is getting $16-16-$18-$20 in his free agency years, which is a bargain even considering the arbitration card. I think the Angels probably saved $3 million a season on these years from what Weaver could have realistically asked for and received given his service time. Overall, we're talking $10-15 million over 5 years and did not have to guarantee a 6th year (which I think is a bigger deal than the annual savings). So yea, Angels saved some bucks and backend. It's a great pro-club deal, but not comparable to a purely free agent CJ.

CJ is more comparable to Lackey and Burnett (each 5/$82). I don't blame CJ for shooting for the moon with $100-120 over 5-6, but at the end of the day no one is going to do that and 5/$85 is a realistic ballpark of where he should land. Weaver simply had arbitration, and gave up a little which was his decision. He is not a market setter for CJ.

Olney thinks we're likely to land CJ:

                    Buster Olney

@ciaogabrielle If I had to guess here today: I'd say Marlins, for about $75-$80 million.

I wonder if he just doesn't see many teams going after him or if there's something significant about our interest in him versus Buerhle
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

                        Maybe both?

I still don't love the idea of CJ but if it's less than $100 mil, why not. As big a risk as he may be, isn't JJ staying healthy an equally big (if not larger) risk?

It seems as if CJ is Loria's SP priority this off-season and if he's coming at 75-80 mil, I'm biting.

I suppose. If we can get Wilson, Reyes, and Cespedes at reasonable numbers it'd be a pretty good offseason.

What if we get Wilson, another SP (via trade or FA) and Aramis Ramirez

Anyone know what Aramis is asking for? I'm kind of scared of getting him, but at the same time intrigued. I also like Fielder on a 4-5 year contract, but there's no need to get a 1B, that still leaves a hole at 3B.
