You know, if we're trying Reyes for 3 years, why not Prince?

The chances of him falling apart in his early 30's are big. If he signs a 6-7 year contract, he's becoming a FA again at 33-34 - if you look at his comps, things don't look pretty for him then.

So sign a 3 year contract for his 28-30 years, THEN sign that 6 year contract and fall apart ASAP in it. If he still mashes those 3 years, someone will pay him handsomely.

I don't think he does (Especially if he can get closes to 10 year contract) and it's not the same situation as Reyes (Who has to prove his health) but you could certainly see why it could be a smart choice on his part.

Yeah, it's not a smart deal for Prince. Prince has nothing to "prove" in the manner Reyes does. I really don't think any free agent has less to gain from a short deal than Prince.
